IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM:

Dear Artists,

Imagine what it would be like to double your painting ability in the next few months… and have rare access to some of the worlds most accomplished artists and learn the techniques they have spent a lifetime figuring out, while spending the same (or even less) that you would spend on a workshop or a couple of videos.
  • Your confidence would skyrocket…
  • You’d be able to paint things you never believed you could paint…
  • You’d feel secure with your drawing skill…
  • You wouldn’t have to spend your lifetime worrying about how to get to the next level…
You’d finally be able to ‘switch off’ the anxiety of not being as good as you should be, and actually enjoy the fruits of your hard work.
So ask yourself… are you sick and tired of struggling in the studio trying to figure out how to take your artwork to the next level?

Do you wish you could be better at all forms of artwork you may encounter like painting people, faces, hands, eyes, landscapes, flowers, and objects?

Wouldn’t it be nice to see how artists around the world approach painting and drawing so you can adopt the style and technique that best fits your personality?

Are you fed-up with the struggle of finding your own style?

Then stop the stress and frustration of trying to figure these things out on your own and discover proven techniques often handed down from generation to generation.

This isn’t just an art class, or even art school. It's a rare gathering of world renowned artists who we were able to gather only because of the pandemic.

You’ll be able to shift your gears into full throttle and approach painting and drawing with confidence that you’re not only doing it right, you’re doing it well.

Many of them have seen their ability more than double by investing just a few days of their time. Sounds hard to believe but it’s true.
Here’s how it works:
First, when you sign up we’ll send you a special link to the event. On the day we start you simply click on that link. You can watch it on your phone, tablet, computer or even your TV*.

We’ll start out by building some energy in the morning. You can watch or participate if you have a camera on your device. Then we’ll jump right into lessons. You can paint along, draw, or take notes.
You can take breaks as you need them because you can watch your replay later. (Every registration comes with replays).

A couple times each day, we’ll hold breakout sessions where you can meet other artists. You’ll have a chance to get to know people all over the world. You can talk about what you’ve learned, about your artwork, or just make friends. It's one of the best parts.
Then back to more lessons!
At the end of each day we’ll have a virtual online cocktail hour, where we will carry on a conversation with the entire group worldwide. And, if you want, you can paint along. We’ll provide a live model, or a scene, or a project to paint each day. (No model nudity)

Please note this goes on for three days from 12pm to 9pm (Eastern time).

We suggest you block out the time as if you were out of town.

Oh — and if you’re a beginner (or still working at perfecting some fundamental techniques), you can join our beginner day where we will teach the basic principles at a beginner level in portrait, figure, still life, landscape and flowers. (Even the non beginners will love seeing the instructors).

Oliver Sin

Values Demo

Oliver Sin

Values Demo
Oliver Sin is an alumnus from Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA, with a BFA in Illustration. Right after he graduated in 1996, he started his art career as a computer game concept artist in LucasArts and he has been teaching professionally since the year 2001.

Oliver has been so drawn to art even as a little boy, he once recalled that he has started drawing at the age of 3. He has continuously practiced his favorite expression, Portraiture, as an art professor and hobbyist.

Oliver employs his influence in creating sensitive, emotional and dramatic portraits in vine charcoal. His motivation is to capture the insight and warmth of each subject then transfer it from life to drawing paper.
With every piece of
artwork, Oliver attempts to
"Leave behind an essence of personality on drawing paper, while expressing his own intense personal feelings towards art and life."
Since 2011, Oliver has been lucky enough to come across a few distinguished contemporary artists as his mentors, ZhaoMing Wu, Henry Yan and Chung-Wei Chien. Their tireless guidance has urged him to put greater efforts in capturing fleeting human expressions and paying more attention to precise composition in figurative portraits.

Carol Peebles

Classical Realism & Drawing from Life

Carol Peebles

Classical Realism & Drawing from Life
New Orleans Native, Carol Peebles, is one of the most prolific, successful and sought after teachers and portrait artists working today. Her drawing classes and portrait commissions are in such great demand that both students and clients are eager to be placed on her waiting lists. There are many reasons for her success, but it's her dual passions for life drawing and motivating people to find the best in themselves through art that draw so many into her circle of influence.

As a professional artist, Carol's exquisitely sensitive portraits reflect the technical and emotional skills she has honed in the 30 years she has devoted to her art. Her early years of formal training were enhanced by traveling and working throughout Europe.
As a teacher, Carol
has a deep-seated belief:
"You can draw. Success is directly related to your faith and discipline, not talent. You will never rise higher than how you see yourself and your work."
She is committed to teaching and truly believes a closer appreciation of one's own creativity brings happiness. She inspires students to dream big and to improve so rapidly and dramatically that many become successful and productive artists under her tutelage.

Todd M. Casey

Classical Style with a Progressive Approach
Casey’s work touches on more than simplistic realism. There is a haunting, nearly literary quality to each frame— a feeling that subjects are viewed from behind mottled glass, burnished by enigmatic candlelight, or brushed by the soft, hazy edges of a half-remembered dream.
His work is classically styled but progressive in approach.
“Every painting has a tale to tell, brewed from a deep well of introspective thought.”
His paintings have been honored with awards several times in recent years. Most recently, he won first four times at the Portrait Society of America’s Members Only Competition and placed first in oil painting from the Allied Artists of America in 2015.

In resulting years, Todd has made the transition from painter to author and teacher. He published his first art book The Art of Still Life in 2020 with Monacelli Press. His second book The Oil Painters’ Color Handbook comes out in August of 2022.

Sandra Angelo

Drawing Realistic Hair
Starting as a novice artist, even after her BA in Fine Art, Sandra still felt wobbly, so she embarked on a self-taught path that took her from mediocre to not so mediocre.

Everything finally changed when she apprenticed with a Master and discovered shortcuts for jaw-dropping Realism. Within months Sandra was landing prestigious commissions with corporate and private collectors.

Specializing in Speed Learning, Sandra taught the hosts on Good Morning Texas how to draw in 7 minutes. When The Washington Post featured Sandra’s apprentice who moved from stick figures to jaw-dropping Realism in 8 weeks, an entire edition of her course instantly sold out.
Sandra says one of
her biggest passions is
“Showing you how to use my SPEED LEARNING SYSTEM that develops your art skills FAST... so your paper or canvas suddenly looks like the creative ideas in your head.”
Impressed by her genius for taking amateurs from stick figures to jaw-dropping Realism, Rhode Island School of Design granted Sandra the prestigious Fellowship Award.

Now, with students in 49 countries, an Emmy nomination and countless top awards, Angelo is the world’s leading source for apprentice style MasterClasses where you can Master art in Days instead of Decades.

Michelle Dunaway

Advanced Techniques in Oils
Michelle Dunaway is an American artist whose paintings are revered for their bold brushwork yet sensitive portrayal of emotions that capture the human experience. Dunaway exhibited a strong penchant for drawing the human form from a young age and that fascination has continued throughout her life and career.

Her artwork has been featured in international exhibitions and publications including Fine Art Connoisseur, Art of the West, International Artist, American Art Collector, Southwest Art, and American Artist.

Dunaway receives several invitations to give painting demos, lecture, and teach internationally each year. These events attract artists who travel from around the world to study with her and we're so excited to feature her during Realism Live 2022.
Michelle believes strongly in "passing on the torch":
“It is extremely important to me that the legacy of strong painting continues for future generations. I feel a strong calling to help others reach their full potential.”
For Michelle, creating great art is about putting light into the world.
It's not only about capturing the light that falls on a subject and translating that luminosity into a painting... it's also about shining light whenever possible through teaching and passing on wisdom.

Karen Offutt

Portrait Demo Live in Studio
Throughout her formative years, Karen excelled in art classes and participated in several art exhibits. As a young adult she sought a more serious outlet for her talent. Not finding the ultimate education for the type of realism she sought, Karen found art related jobs to keep her motivated. Learning to paint with oils was her goal and found that opportunity Austin Fine Arts Classes where she learned a more classical approach.

From there, she attended workshops from nationally renowned artists and from there began to find her own path in her creative journey.

From her studio in Austin, Karen approaches her paintings with an atmospheric sensitivity combining shape, tone line, and color.
The inspiration of her preferred subject matter comes ultimately from the figure.
“I have always loved painting people whether in natural surroundings or in a more staged setting.”
As and artist, Offutt is very aware of her environment, she sees potential in everything and her emotional reaction guides her to the specific inspiration. There are different aspects to her painting, from technical skill, creative freedom, to emotional truth. Her goal is to create work that guides all these elements in a direction that moves both herself and spectator.

Alex Kelly

Oil Painting From Life
Alex Kelly's work in oil is in the alla prima manner and usually directly from life study.
Kelly chooses this has is primary way of working because:

Since beginning his fine art career over 40 years ago, John Pototschnik has become a popular speaker and juror among art organizations. His paintings are in many private and public collections nationally.

Leona Shanks

Painting Relevant
Figurative Art
As an artist, Leona Shanks has much to say. Art is a forum for her to express ideas that are in her consciousness. Images will not leave her mind until she explores them on canvas. Her platform for communication is with paintbrush and canvas.
She strives to paint work relevant to contemporary issues.
“I aspire to make a contribution so that when I leave this earth, maybe I have done something meaningful. A fire rages inside of me to create art that has soul and significance.”
As a student, Leona explored various art curricula, including a sculpture program with Evangelos Frudakis, and a four-year apprenticeship with artist Nelson Shanks from 1985 to 1989. Shanks' studio apprentices would help manage his professional studio and assistant-teach with him at The Art Students League of New York. In 1989 Leona and Nelson married, subsequently traveling the world as Nelson painted commissions of European royalty and international icons. In 2002, Leona and Nelson founded Studio Incamminati, School for Contemporary Realism, in Philadelphia. Leona continues to be part of the school’s leadership today.

Annalisa Shanks

Emerging Artist Bringing Stories One Step Closer to Life.
Annalisa Shanks is an emerging artist currently studying at Studio Incamminati, School of Contemporary Realist Art in Philadelphia. She comes from a family of realist painters, all of whom incorporate their respect for Renaissance and Baroque painting principles into their exploration of vibrant, stirring themes based in the here and now.
An education in photography helped her pinpoint the visual motifs which, for her, translated into metaphysical poetry.
The study of poetry and liberal arts fueled her insatiable desire to bring stories one step closer to life.
Annalisa has a strong background in creative arts with technical structures – she received an Associate Degree in Photography and a Bachelor’s in English Literature before committing to realist art. The two disciplines helped build a strong foundation of aesthetic, analytical, and communication skills which Annalisa exercises across the full spectrum of her artistic practice.

Annalisa is currently occupied with academic work and foundational development at Studio Incamminati but has many plans for paintings inspired by her visual and literary background.

Cornelia Hernes

Still Life Demo
Cornelia was born and raised in Norway and from the onset of her oil painting pursuits in her late teens, she was particularly interested in rendering the human form and emotive expressions through portraiture and mythological motifs. During the course of her artistic and academic training she further developed a deep affection for the genres of still life, interiors and nature motifs.

Cornelia achieved a Bachelors of Fine Arts from The University of Victoria, BC, Canada in 2003. Following her BFA degree, she pursued a classical realist training at The Florence Academy of Art in Italy. While a student, she became a teacher assistant and upon her graduation she was hired on as a Principal Instructor in the drawing and painting programs.
In 2018 she brought her experience as an artist & instructor online with portrait painting tutorials & private art instruction.
“I'm an online student of Cornelia, Amazing would be an understatement to describe her. Talking with her is like talking to your psychotherapist, except you're talking about art. She will analyze your work as if she can read your mind while you're painting your image.”
Her current focus includes portrait painting, still life painting as well as commission based work.

Clyde Aspevig

Painting Landscapes of the Great American Prairie
Living Legend, Clyde Aspevig, is one of the North America's top landscape artists. His paintings of the West capture the beauty, rhythm and harmony of places that he has seen disappearing during his own lifetime.
Clyde's beautiful landscape paintings are not theatrical
sets intended to reinforce regional mythology. Rather...
His paintings possess qualities meant to last for generations.
In 2021 Clyde’s paintings of the American Prairie Reserve were permanently installed in the new American Prairie Reserve’s National Discovery Center in Lewistown, Montana.

We are incredibly honored to feature Clyde at this year's Realism Live.

Mario A. Robinson

Panel Discussion with Sharon Sprung & Peter Trippi
The work of Mario Andres Robinson fits squarely within the tradition of American painting. Robinson's finished works bear a close affinity to the masters of the realist tradition, Andrew Wyeth and Thomas Eakins.

The images he chooses, which refer to a bygone era where solitude and reflection were abundant, also provoke frequent allusions to the paintings of Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper.
Containing few
references to modern life...
Robinson's work has a timeless and universal quality, and exhibits a distinct turn-of-the-century stylistic aesthetic.
Robinson is an Exhibiting Artist Member (EAM) of The National Arts Club, an Artist Member of The Salmagundi Club and a Signature Member of The Pastel Society of America. His work has been featured several times in The Artist's Magazine, The Pastel Journal, Watercolor Magic, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur and on the cover of American Artist magazine. In the February, 2006 issue of The Artist's Magazine, Mario was selected as one of the top 20 realist artists under the age of 40.

FIVE-STAR REVIEWS FROM PAST ATTENDEES!
"Absolutely heaven for painters. If anything can take our minds off a pandemic it was realism live, what a hoot, such a brilliant program that stimulated my brain and imagination, taught me new skills and gave me new ideas to try. I loved meeting the other painters and Eric and Peter. The Bob Ross inclusion was hilarious. The quality work of the artists demonstrating was awe inspiring and then to top it all off, just after it finished my swagbag arrived with goodies galore. The only difficulty will be deciding which videos to choose as part of my VIP pack. Awesome conference guys, thanks so much."
–Vicki Sullivan
"I was blown away by the talent of the faculty of RealismLive!! I came away from the experience feeling like this art community is part of a large family. I just realized after attending #RealismLive this week, art unites. Artists from across the globe were there sharing their skills and knowledge in the pursuit of art, sustaining itself, like a nurturing family. Loved Bob Ross and Peter’s costumes. What fun group of people. Truly inspiring. I’m catching the wind, and it’s filling my sail. Thank you, Streamline Publishing team and faculty."
–Renee Nath
"Over the top. I rediscovered that I like to draw and look forward to honing those skills through the replays. The state of the art of realism in the talks by Dean, Peter, and Odd were magnificent and eye opening. Loved that the pre recorded demos had time lapse segments. This will be valuable on replay as the complete process was demoed. The interactive parts were great as well. I'm sold on this type of conference. No travel, sleep in my own bed and have the best seat in the house every day. Kudos to Eric, Peter, and the whole REALISMLIVE team. See you all at Watercolor LIVE."
–Donna Walsh
"I think when I look back on Realism Live from the future I will say that it was THE pivotal life changing event in my art career. Thank you Eric, Peter and all the artists that gave so much of themselves and of course a big thanks to all behind the scenes who made this ALL possible!"
–Patricia Gray
"For 25 years I’ve made my living as a painter. Others sometimes called me an artist, but I lacked the confidence to think of myself as such. A couple of workshops here and there just left me frustrated. While stuck at home because of Covid (and with Covid), I had a lot of time to think about the direction I wanted to take. An ad for PleinAirLive popped up on my FB feed one day and I signed up. It was a real turning point for me. The quality and variety of instruction was amazing! Even better was the way they fostered “community”. When they announced Realism Live, I immediately signed up, not even knowing what that might mean. Once again, I was blown away by the whole experience. Thank you to everyone involved in creating this unique and wonderful Art experience. I am forever grateful!"
–Sally Bowers
"I had no clue what to expect from Realism Live being a watercolorist. Within a few minutes I had to paint along listening as Joshua LaRock explained the structure and form of an eye. Over the course of 4 days, figures and portraits began to emerge . I watched great talent and met great talent in the break out rooms but mainly I listened and painted. Realism Live fed life into me and I have advanced in my understanding of a movement I knew little about. I am fired up."
–Barbara Tapp
"I never thought I would get to go to realism live. I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Realism Live rocked my world, is a game changer and life changing for me. I learned so much from everyone that presented and in the chats. I am encouraged, inspired, and so in awe of everything I learned (brain overload still -lol) I cried through watching several demos. This event was exactly what I needed to validate what I want to do. Now all I need to do, as Pierre would say, “Go Paint”. Which is exactly what I’m going to do."
–Katie Manner
"Realism Live so exceeded all expectations that even though I am not a watercolor artist, I enrolled in Watercolor Live."
–Patricia Caviar
"I thoroughly loved Realism Live. I already miss all the interaction and energy. The years of expertise and instruction shared and knowledge gained in just a few days is unbelievable! I am so looking forward to Watercolor Live. Totally inspired! Thank you for this opportunity! Already signed up for Watercolor Live!"
–Trish Dorton
"Magnificent! It truly exceeded what I imagined it would be. Been able to study with masters of Modern Realism in the company of other artists around the world, from whom I've learned what they had to share also, without leaving my studio, represents a lifetime opportunity for growth as an artist and advancement in the art world. I am thankful."
–Jeannina Blanco
"The week was full of incredible demos, instruction, new drawing and painting experiences, fun breakout rooms and fun dancing and chats. What I gained besides learning a bit about oil painting, was the confidence that I can actually learn to draw faces, figures, portraits, or whatever I want! I was a believer that I couldn't draw, so I avoided the subjects of people and figures. After attending Realism Live, I see that I can obtain these skills with some pointed practice. What a gift that is for sure, to open up the world of painting anything! But I will probably still enjoy painting flowers. I need to go back and work on 30 more demos this week and really make you proud, or at least not regret your kindness!"
–Kaye Licherdell
"The level of skill ,and the manner in which it was presented by the artists just reached inside me and pulled out inspiration, and built confidence in very unexpected ways. I did not just learn technical skill, but met hearts, minds and souls. If that weren't enough, the community built through chat and zoom took the whole experience to a level nearing out of this world. Then we add the generosity of sponsors and Eric and his team, and now we are out of this world! My heart is full, my head is full, and my inspiration is on full steam. I know life is different because of this experience, I can't wait to find out just what that means! A thousand times thank you for Realism Live!"

MY 100% MONEY BACK GUARANTEE

I guarantee you’ll walk away with new skills, tips, tools and knowledge that you can use to improve your painting and drawing skills.

If after attending Day 1, you do not feel you have received even one “breakthrough” moment that could potentially change your artistic skills.

And if you feel you didn’t receive what I am promising you on this page...

Then I’ll Refund Your Investment, Every Penny.

If you’re not happy, then I’m not happy, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make it right.

I believe the likelihood of this happening is EXTREMELY low.

But the reason why I'll put my money where my mouth is, is because I KNOW when you experience Realism Live...

You are going to experience such a profound transformation over the 3 days of this event. Not only will our World-Renowned Faculty give you ACTIONABLE tips that will dramatically improve your art and career... you are going to build lifelong friendships with other artists from all over the world.

How will I access Realism live online?

You will have streaming access on our virtual event platform, designed to be compatible with the largest number of devices. For any networking components, we will be using Zoom free meeting software. The bandwidth will vary depending on connection speed and many other factors — we would estimate around 5GB of data will get used for the event.

Note: The conference is NOT delivered via Facebook or YouTube.

Are the demos live?

The demos are NEW content with some being live and some being pre-recorded with the artist talking live over the demo.

Does the general admission / PREMIER / VIP include the beginner workshop?

No, the beginner workshop is a separate registration fee beginning the day before the big event.

How to I upgrade my ticket?

Existing tickets can be upgraded by visiting https://realismlive.com/ticket-upgrade-2021

What is the happy hour?

Happy Hour painting will be an image on the screen that everyone paints.

What is A BREAKOUT SESSION?

Breakout sessions are live networking sessions where you will be paired with 3 - 5 other artists for 10 - 15 minutes of discussion.

The feedback from attendees of our previous virtual conferences is that this is their favourite part - to be able to meet and talk about art with other painters just like you!!!

Note: you will need Zoom (free meeting software) installed on your device (computer / tablet / phone) to participate in these sessions.

What is the realism Live community?

It’s a Private Facebook for Realism Live. We have a way that we're allowing people to communicate as a community.

What is the presentation?

It is a lecture, not a demo. We’ll start each day that way. It’s like a keynote speech.

What is the virtual round table?

It’s a group of artists having in depth discussions that give you an inside look at their lives and their work.
